This just in ... IBM Sucks

Well, that is according to the Sun CEO.
" IBM and Sun have a long history of partnering." - Yep, and Oracle and MS both do SQL
"Solaris 10, ... bringing mainframe features ... "
- Oh man, get this guy some meds he's dellusional. Spouting "mainframe" features that 1st Sun said was dead and finally they catch up to IBM and he acts like they're revolutionary.
Anyway to the crux of his smoke and mirrors:
(Paraphrasing only somewhat)
"We and our customers want IBM to support Solaris 10 with WebSphere, DB2, Tivoli, Rational and MQSeries products. They're feeling that your withholding support is part of a vendor lock-in strategy. A strategy to trap them into IBM's proprietary Power5 platform only."
Nice scare tatics.
Um let me get this straight. The first major company to support Linux, the company that's pushing open standards and has had Linux compatabiliy in AIX for years now... and _IBM's_ the lock in? Or how 'bout Sun, who's only finaly begun to play with "open source" and it's for Solaris... forget the masses behind Linux (something they continue to ignore). Suddenly we're supposed to play w/ you because you want to share you ball-ball now?
Maybe IBM and the rest of the Open Source Community just don't think you're worth playing with.
